July 2, 2008 - Avionics upgrade planned for several aircraft on our fleet

We have recently purchased a large value amount of avionics and will shortly be upgrading several aircraft on our fleet with them. Our plan is to standardise the Cessna 152 fleet and also the PA28 fleet whilst also upgrading the Aztec and converting gradually to mode S across the board.

We will start shortly by upgrading G-GFPA our Barton based PA28-181 to be common to our other two PA28-181's with twin Garmin 430's instead of the one 530 which is currently installed. We will also be standardising the ADF and DME fit by fitting an STEC ADF and DME system identical to that which is fitted to the other two aircraft. Whilst doing this we also plan to upgrade to a mode S transponder. Garmin audio panels will also become standard across our fleet with one being fitted to this aircraft.

With the surplus avionics from G-GFPA we then plan to fit G-OSJF, our Aztec with the Garmin 530, Bendix King ADF and DME which were removed during the installation to the PA28. We will also fit a Garmin audio panel and a mode S transponder.

Next we will fit Garmin audio panels, Garmin 430's, Bendix King KNS80 RNAV or DME and mode S transponders to all of our Cessna 152 fleet, similar to the fit we currently have in G-GFIC.

This upgrade will significantly improve and standardise our fleet keeping them the most modern and well equipped aircraft available.
